There are 12 different types of ghosts in phasmophobia – Banshee, Demon, Jinn, Mare, Oni, Phantom, Poltergeist, Revenant, Shade, Spirit, Wraith, and Yurei – and they each have their own strengths and weaknesses, along with some evidence that ‘they will leave behind. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, the Ghost patterns in Phasmophobia do not indicate the type of Ghost you are looking for. Instead, you’ll need to use all the tools at your disposal to identify the type of ghost that is haunting the location. Also, don’t neglect your journal, as it will give you tips on each ghost and what to look for. Important Ghost Information Each ghost will have a random combination of first name, last name, gender, length of death, age, shyness, and room chosen, and lots of information about the ghost can be found on the truck’s whiteboard. It is also very important to remember that whether or not you have push-to-talk enabled, the Ghost can still hear you speaking. Also, he’ll be very upset when you say his name, so be careful what you say. Depending on the difficulty, when you start a round, you will have either 5 minutes (amateur difficulty), 2 minutes (intermediate difficulty) or no time (professional difficulty) in the installation phase. This is a great time to split up and use your gear to try and find out what type of Ghost is in the location. After the setup phase, the ghost will randomly switch to hunt mode, and that’s when it will become visible and can kill you. If you have to die, you will see ghostly hands coming and strangling you, and you will lose any extra gear you have purchased. However, there are ways you can still walk around and help yourself team up. Everything is blue, but you can still see everything in the truck and the location. If you use in-game chat you won’t be able to talk to your living friends, but using another service like Discord will help you be part of the fun and help in the limited way you can. How to Identify Ghosts Your main mission in Phasmophobia is to identify the type of ghost that is haunting where you are. Each Ghost is tied to three types of evidence – EMF Level 5, Fingerprints, Freezing Temperatures, Ghost Orb, Ghost Writing, and Box Spirit – and these are critical in determining which Ghost is present. When you confirm each type of evidence, be sure to record it in your journal. As you enter the types of evidence, it will automatically reduce the ghost types, making it easier to determine this one. We’ve created a handy chart that can help you determine exactly which ghost may haunt a particular location ad.
