South Korean company PUBG has initiated discussions with Jio Platforms to supply its highly popular sport in India. PUBG was banned from the Government since it had been distributed in India by the Chinese company Tencent.
According to various resources in the know, after canceling its permit with Tencent, PUBG is considering the Indian marketplace with a long-term perspective. “The discussions are in an early period, which started just after the Government’s next round of bans.
India had prohibited 118 Chinese programs after the boundary face-off with China.
PUBG entered into a venture with Jio this past year, wherein Jio users who enroll for PUBG Lite get rewards for purchasing their in-game product. Discussions are now to make this type of full-time venture.
Another source added that things about sales share in addition to localization had been discussed. “legal specialists from the sides are researching possibilities on how revenues should be divided, whether it’d be 50:50 or even Jio guaranteeing PUBG earnings based on a predetermined number of users each month,” sources added. Localization was among those states mandated by Delhi from the current ban.
When contacted, PUBG stated it didn’t have any particular details regarding the situation. Lately, PUBG said it would take on all publishing duties within the nation. A RIL spokesperson didn’t want to comment.
