Brazilian telecommunications company Oi will sponsor the Prêmio Esports Brasil, an annual awards ceremony hosted by communications giant Globo and investment group Go4it that recognizes the country’s most prominent esports personalities. The agreement also grants Oi the naming rights for the “best streamer” category, named “Oi apresenta Melhor Streamer” (“Oi presents the best streamer” in Portuguese). The 2020 Prêmio Esports Brasil was confirmed earlier this year after some insecurity due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Now scheduled for December 8, organizers are exploring the possibility of the ceremony taking place in a physical location with guests, but the event’s marketing and communications manager, Thiago Milhazes, said “this is not not yet defined “and will be decided as control of the pandemic continues to develop. According to organizers, Prêmio Esports Brasil recorded 10 million audience votes last year for top players and personalities in 20 categories, surpassing the 3.4 million votes cast by the Global Esports Awards. In addition to the live broadcast on Twitch and YouTube, the ceremony will also be broadcast on Globo’s pay TV channel, SporTV.
